Do you feel exhausted after being on Zoom?

You’re not alone (we are multiple after all). Thanks to COVID-19, we’ve been on Zoom more than ever. From our day-to-day work to meetings and after-work social catch ups, our time spent video conferencing seems endless and it’s tiring us out. Interestingly women more than men.

Studies have shown that our brains are in overload during these video meetings, and that’s leading us to feel emotionally and motivationally exhausted.

We’ve asked the experts what exactly is going on in our heads when we’re in an online meeting and how we can reduce and prevent fatigue so we can feel energised and work better. Some good suggestions of times limits, breaks and gendered impacts of the online worklife.

Takeaway – more than 4 hours/day starts to move most people into exhaustion. More in this 25min program from ABC Radio National’s This Working Life program (thanks to Lisa Leong).

Guests – Professor Julie Bernhardt, Florey Institute of Neuroscience & Mental Health, and Professor Jeff Hancock, Stanford University
