ABOUT THE APPLIED DEMOS SERIES
The focus in this series is on seeing the IFS approach, model and techniques in practical application. Participants in the APPLIED IFS – Online Demos will deepen the basics of the IFS approach through examples, commentary, and reflection.
In this series of recorded video demonstrations and discussion, a small study group will build on their existing knowledge from the IFS Introduction and offer discussion and further learning with 4 demonstrations of recorded client sessions showing working with one client in a Brief Therapy format.
Commence with either Series I (4 individual sessions), Series II (one client over 4 sessions) or Series III (4 single sessions) in the Applied IFS Demo workshops series. All use IFS as the lens or central spine of the work, offering practical modelling and application through an experiential orientation.
Clinical trainer and IFS therapist Simon d’Orsogna will offer these Applied IFS Demos Online, in group sessions via the ZOOM platform (8 hours in each series).
The size of these 4 session workshops is limited to 18. These sessions will NOT be recorded. A certificate of attendance will be emailed to those who attend all sessions, in accordance with accreditation association requirements.
Early registration is encouraged as previous post workshops have sold out in the last series.
Upon payment and acceptance into the course, instructions on links to Zoom will be sent to participants via the email address used at registration.
Links will be sent in the day ahead of each session.
See above for a bundled offer of the series with a 10% discount.
WHO IS THIS FOR?
Suitable to professionals (therapists, psychologists, counsellors, expressive and therapeutic arts practitioners, and social workers) who have completed at least the Introductory Workshop Series or similar (minimum 6 hours prior learning).
Participation is for those who have completed an IFS Introduction workshop, and those working as therapists and counsellors, mental health clinicians, or students in accredited graduate training programs. Practitioners working experientially and holistically will find this approach broadens and makes more focused their existing work through using the steps of IFS’s ‘Self & Parts’ model, applied practically.
Basic knowledge of the model, steps and language is assumed and will not be covered here.
* Note – these workshops qualify for equivalent hours of specialised training that may be counted towards Continuing Professional Development according to requirements set down by your accrediting body. Registered health professionals have a responsibility to ensure that they continue to maintain, enhance and extend their knowledge and skills throughout their working lives.
See Guidelines on continuing professional development (CPD) from the Australian Psychological Society and Guidelines on continuing professional development (CPD) set down by the Psychology Registration Board of Australia.
The Australian Psychological Society advise that APS Members may accrue Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours by participating in activities that they determine to be relevant to their specific professional approaches, and professional development goals. CPD activities do not need to be endorsed by the APS. A certificate of attendance will be available to participants who attend all sessions.

TESTIMONIALS
Testimonials from attendees of Simon’s recent Applied IFS Demos workshops in this online format:
Simon’s explanations at crucial points during the demos were perfect. Each time a question popped up for me, he’d stop the video and explain an important step but even more importantly for me, he’d highlight a subtle nuance of IFS therapy, which I would have missed if I’d just read about it or it hadn’t been pointed out. AND to be able to ask individual questions about the demo was so beneficial.
Very inspirational and consolidating!
The format of the course, watching demonstrations with explanations interspersed by an experienced trained therapist, assisted with understanding the IFS process and provided tangible examples/suggestions that can be readily incorporated into your own practice.
I found the online demos so valuable. There is nothing to me like learning like this. It was such a lovely slow pace I was able to connect and process what was being said.
Demos provide more insight and depth to the IFS experience, from both client and therapist perspectives. Very informative and helpful to witness IFS in action. Highly recommended.
I found the demo course to be so valuable and I am very thankful for the opportunity to participate! The visual/experiential format of watching demos was excellent and I felt that my “book learning” was greatly enhanced by seeing the use of IFS concepts in-session. My thanks to those who were willing to be filmed for this learning to take place.
Excellent way of learning the techniques of IFS. Simon has an easy way of explaining the steps in realtime, and presents the application of IFS with such compassion and care.
A very good display of IFS in various contexts . Very informative, well presented and especially well explained and demonstrated. Would highly recommend.
It was very helpful seeing the theory put into practice. The therapist’s approach was very appropriate to each situation and that was an important aspect to witness – that this deep work should not be hurried or even outcome-driven.
It is always good to see a demo. I find that it stays more in the memory, brings my book learning to life.
The dynamic of watching a demonstration and then having the key IFS processes and questions explained really helps with understanding how the skills/techniques can be applied. The four demonstrations illustrated the therapeutic power of a number of key elements including: maintaining a non-judgmental and curious stance; exploring how the client is living the story in their lives; using the clients own language wherever possible; acknowledging, accepting and seeking permission from all parts. In doing so, I also found it encouraged me to be more aware of when I was able to use these techniques and when I slipped into my “need to be the expert” parts. Overall, while I am still learning IFS, I feel my general counselling skills have been enhanced.
