ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP SERIES

In this workshop series you will immerse yourself in the Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS) model of psychotherapy. Simon d’Orsogna MA (IFS Institute’s International Partner for Australia and NZ) will offer an Introductory IFS Online workshop as a public webinar and 3 small meetings via the ZOOM platform. Webinar plus lectures combine to a 6 hours series total.

Participants in the Introductory Workshop Series will learn the basics of the IFS approach from the ground up. No previous knowledge of the model is assumed. Suitable to professionals (therapists, psychologists, counsellors, expressive and therapeutic arts practitioners, and social workers) as well as those seriously interested in their self-development. The focus in this series is on understanding the IFS approach, model and techniques. The Demos Series, Enriching Workshops, Small Groups, IFS Online Circle, and Level 1 Training will be a natural next step to those who have completed the Introductory workshop.

This Introductory lecture series (standalone 90 minute Webinar plus three 90-minute meetings) provides an opportunity for didactic presentation, watching a pre-recorded demonstration session with commentary, some (optional) experiential learning by doing, and develops a comfortable familiarity with the powerful attitudes and techniques that make IFS so effective. The sessions here provide an opportunity for group learning in a supportive atmosphere.

The webinar and the series will be recorded and with PPT and notes available. A certificate of attendance will be sent only to those who attend ALL sessions live in person.

Early registration is encouraged as previous Introduction workshops have sold out in the previous series.

This workshop will be conducted online, over the Zoom online conferencing platform.

Upon payment and acceptance into the course, instructions on links to Zoom will be sent to participants via the email address used at registration. Links will be sent in the day ahead of each session, and an hour prior to start (please check your spam and socials folders if not visible).

WHO IS THIS FOR?

Participation is for therapists and counsellors, mental health clinicians, or students in accredited graduate training programs. Practitioners working experientially and wholistically will find this approach broadens and makes more acute their existing work through using the steps of the IFS model of ‘Self and parts’ .

No assumption of the model is required, although pre-reading/pre-viewing of freely available online material can be helpful.

These intensive workshops will promote beginner and intermediate-level skill building through active participatory learning and live demonstrations. Come along prepared for optional learning by doing, through some individual and group exercises, invitations for self-reflection and Q&A.

See Guidelines on continuing professional development (CPD) from the Australian Psychological Society and Guidelines on continuing professional development (CPD) set down by the Psychology Registration Board of Australia.

The Australian Psychological Society advise that APS Members may accrue Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours by participating in activities that they determine to be relevant to their specific professional approaches, and professional development goals. CPD activities do not need to be endorsed by the APS. A certificate of attendance will be available to participants who attend the Webinar and 3x sessions.

REFUND POLICY

Due to the limited size of each course, a refund can only be issued if cancellation notification is received 30 days prior to the workshop – less a $75.00 administration fee per person for the full course. Existing registrants will be sent the refund and should return any materials sent. We cannot reimburse any expenses you may have incurred. If you cannot attend, a suitably qualified substitute may attend in your place, assuming you forward all materials or information to them. Courses are pre-paid.

We reserve the right to cancel due to insufficient registrations or other reasons beyond our control at our discretion. Workshop fees will be reimbursed in full should cancellation be necessary.

Refunds will not be made after the first of the four sessions.

Testimonials from attendees of Simon’s earlier Introductory IFS workshops in this online format:

“I really enjoyed this training since it was very thought-provoking and triggered much self-evaluation. I was repeatedly drawn to giving consideration to my own parts and burdens and the roles they play – how they relate to each other and where they’ve come from. This training has invoked in a me a desire to continue to work on my own parts and burdens and to appreciate the value of doing this type of work with others.”

“It’s an introduction to a model of therapy that is more client focused and allows for deeper understanding of the psyche in a non threatening gentle way.”

“It walks the talk, Simon as facilitator both teaches and embodies the core principles of the IFS model it is both supportive and inclusive and respectful of our own multiplicity and each others. This makes for a relaxed and genuine learning environment where curiosity and non judgement are encouraged and welcome whilst holding space for whatever else might surface. I liked how Simon would pepper insights and facts from working therapeutically not just specifically from IFS”

“A really wonderful way to begin to gain knowledge in this model, offered some good further reading and listening resources, made IFS seem attainable and interested me to know more”

“Well Worth Doing ! The course both confirmed what i already knew about IFS and enlightened me on the model in several ways”

“It was a relaxed, interesting and informative workshop.”

“Insightful, gentle and genuine teaching, good overview of IFS”
