PARTICIPANTS

Limited to 24 persons (plus the training team). In this workshop series you will immerse yourself in the Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS) model of psychotherapy. Jane Currie (Level 2 Certified IFS Therapist & Supervisor), Richard Fox (Level 3 Certified IFS Therapist & Supervisor) and Hyunok Jeon (Level 2 Certified IFS Therapist & Supervisor) will offer a 2 Day Introductory IFS workshop, followed by a 2 Day Deepening IFS workshop. Attendees of previous Introductory IFS workshops can apply for tickets in the Deepening, with preference going to the current participants. Participants in the Introductory Workshop Series will learn the basics of the IFS approach from the ground up. No previous knowledge of the model is assumed. Suitable to mental health professionals including therapists, psychologists, counsellors, psychiatrists, expressive and therapeutic arts practitioners, and social workers. The focus in the Deepening days is on further understanding the IFS approach, model and techniques through a series of exercises, demos and discussion. To attend the Deepening, attendees must have completed an Introduction to IFS workshop or equivalent (6 hours minimum).

Participants will be supported in the experiential work with experienced NZ therapists and practitioners as your assistants – each have completed the official IFS Institutes Training Level 1 or better. This workshop series provides an opportunity for didactic presentation, watching both live and demonstration sessions with commentary and discussion, and experiential exercises where we learn-by-doing. You will develop a familiarity with the powerful attitudes and techniques that make IFS so effective. The sessions here aim to provide an opportunity for adult group learning, professional development in a supportive collegial atmosphere.

We recommend all participants take best precautions (immunisation, masks, distancing, hand-washing) in order to take care of others and themselves during the pandemic and flu seasons, and take best precautions against COVID-19 and RSV.

Testimonials from attendees of recent New Zealand IFS workshops …

“The workshop inspired me to become more committed to using the model and developed my confidence. Group discussions, demonstrations and small group work created a positive and open learning atmosphere. Simon was living the values of IFS through openly embracing all the parts in the room. I had the opportunity to work with my own parts in a supportive atmosphere.

Fun, informative, experiential, respectful, and inspiring.

Useful, effective, grounding, and gave me more confidence in using IFS”

Really enjoyed the trainer’s presence, authenticity, compassion, and expertise in the field. It made for an engaging and fun workshop and I came away inspired by IFS.

An absolute must to attend if you are wanting to explore the use of IFS in your practice.”

Who is this for?

Participation is for therapists and counsellors, mental health clinicians, or students in accredited graduate MH training programs. Practitioners working experientially and wholistically will find this approach broadens and makes more acute their existing work through using the steps of the IFS model of ‘Self and parts’ . No assumption of familiarity of the model is required, although some pre-reading/pre-viewing of freely available online material is recommended. Recommended pre-workshop materials (podcasts, articles and videos) can be accessed at the IFS Institute website, under Resources.

Workshop size

The size of this workshop is limited to 24 participants. Participants will be supported in the experiential work with assistants who have completed at least Level 1 IFS Training.

Early registration is encouraged as previous NZ workshops have sold out directly in the last series.

These intensive workshops will promote beginner and intermediate-level skill building through active participatory learning and live demonstrations. Come along prepared to optional learning by doing, through some individual and group exercises, invitations for self reflection – and open discussion.
