IFS Model – 2 day Intro + 1 day Demo Workshop, Sydney – October

October 5, 2023

$245 – $700

In these workshops you will immerse yourself in the Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS) model of psychotherapy and then continue through group work and live demonstrations.

Simon d’Orsogna MA will offer an Introductory IFS workshop (Thursday 5th October 2023 – Friday 6th October 2023, 9am-430pm each day) plus an optional live Demos Day (Saturday 7th October, 9am – 4:30pm), ahead of further workshops and upcoming Level 1 trainings.

Participants in the 2 Day Introductory Workshop will learn the basics of the IFS approach from the ground up. No previous knowledge is assumed. Suitable for professionals (therapists, psychologists, counsellors, certified coaches, expressive and therapeutic arts practitioners, and social workers) as well as those seriously interested in their self-development. The Applied Demos, Enriching and Deepening workshops, as well as official Trainings for Level 1 will be a natural next step to those who have completed the Introductory workshop in order to learn the Internal Family Systems model of psychotherapy.

This two day Introductory workshop is an opportunity for presentations, demonstrations, experiential learning by doing, and provides a safe space to develop a comfortable facility with the powerful attitudes and techniques that make IFS so effective. The sessions here provide deeper learning and some opportunity to work in small groups with maximum in-the-seat learning in a supportive atmosphere. A number of experienced assistants will coach and support triads in live learning sessions. There are 25 places only for the Intro 2 day workshop.

Participants in the following 1 Day Demos Workshop must have completed an Introduction to IFS (6 hours minimum) or similar to register. In this workshop day you will see the application of the Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS) model Live Demos led by Simon d’Orsogna MA, IFS Institute’s International Partner for New Zealand and Australia. The focus in this series is on getting a lived ‘in-the-room’ sense of IFS in practice. Attendees may volunteer for the client role to experience the efficacy of the Self-led model. Tickets will be prioritised to the attendees of the Intro 2 day workshop immediately prior, however some tickets will be available for later release if not sold. There are 12 places only for the Demos workshop.

See the online page HERE for more general information on both Introductory workshops and Certification trainings, including peer practice events.

Anyone attending the live training/workshop is recommended to have a vaccination against COVID-19. We recommend all participants take best precautions (masks, distancing, hand-washing) in order to take care of others and themselves during the pandemic and flu seasons. Despite loss of media attention, the Australian infection rates and hospital numbers are still significant, and we hope to take care of those around us by taking good care in gathering together. Long Covid is a reality.

Testimonials from attendees of Simon’s Introductory IFS workshops

“Great learning, profound and well-organized. Very competently presented and well structured.

Very interesting and more emotionally charged than many trainings.

It clarified my own confusion / incongruence about how to apply various theories in a more holistic approach to my work with IFS.

Enlightening! Great to have the support of others to implement theory into practice.

Gentle and beautifully paced. A great balance of didactic and practical work. The latter a bit intimidating but well worth the risk. Joyful and funny at times. I loved it.

Fantastic and full of great people. Actually very energizing instead of draining which can often happen even in interesting workshops”

Who is this for?

Participation is for therapists and counsellors, mental health clinicians, or students in accredited graduate training programs. Practitioners working experientially and wholistically will find this approach broadens and makes more acute their existing work through using the steps of the IFS ‘parts’ model. No assumption of the model is required, although some pre-reading/pre-viewing of online material is recommended. See the IFS Institute’s Resources page for the article The Larger Self.
